What does a typical show entail?

A typical show would start outside the hall with a character introducing themselves. Your students are then taken back in time and fully immersed in your chosen period of history. Most of the shows contain a 20 mins "briefing session" where the actors will divide the children into groups to rehearse their parts. The show then continues with children acting their parts along side the Rainbow performers. This way of working is very popular with the children as not only do they get to be part of the action, they also enjoy watching their peers perform.

How much space do you need? And what equipment?

We work in school halls and gyms and occasionally in class rooms when the numbers have been very small. We work in the round so do not require a stage or lighting. We bring our own sound. Ideally we would require some P.E mats and benches for the children to sit on and a selection of tables or P.E equipment to create the scene, although this is not essential.

Are your shows appropriate for SEN schools?

YES. We have worked in many SEN schools with children and young adults with different needs. Our Pantomime, Fairy Tales and Pirate shows are all very popular with SEN schools and our performances are designed to be adapted to suit the specific needs of the children.

How much does a show cost? And do you offer discounts?

A typical show for up to 60 children is £385 + VAT* Some of our shows can have an audience of up to 300 children. Please contact us for price details. We also offer discretionary discounts through the year. Join our mailing list, follow us on social media and keep an eye on our website for details. * By law we have to charge VAT on top of our prices, however schools can claim the VAT back.

What age groups do you work with?

We work with Nursery, Reception, KS1 and KS2. All our shows can be adapted for any year group.

We are a 1 form entry school and can't afford your prices. Can you help us?

We think the work we do is so beneficial and important and we would hate to see a school miss out due to funding. In the past smaller schools have joined with other schools in the area to manage costings. We are here to help so please do get in touch and we will try our best to accommodate you.

Where do you visit?

We cover London, Essex, Kent, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and North Surrey. For bookings in East & West Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey and the South West please contact Rainbow Theatre Productions. Rainbow Theatre London will be expanding into other areas so please do contact us if you are interested in booking one of our shows.

Are your actors DBS checked?

Yes. All of our actors carry up to date Disclosure Certificates and photographic ID and have read and signed our Safeguarding Policy.

What do you mean when you say "performed in the round"?

Our shows are designed to enable the children to feel part of the action. Our actors perform in the middle of a square with children sitting on all four sides.
